The Big Change for UK Entry Requirements
Until 25 February 2026, airlines and other carriers have been allowed to let eligible passengers travel to the UK without an ETA UK during a transition period.
From 25 February 2026 onwards:
- Carriers must check Electronic Travel Authorisation UK status before boarding
- Travellers who need a UK ETA but don’t have one may not be allowed to board
- This applies to many visa‑exempt nationals visiting the UK for business, events or leisure

Dual British Citizens – Important Warning
One of the most common risk areas for Electronic Travel Authorisation UK is dual nationality.
If any of your delegates hold dual British/Canadian or dual British/USA passports:
- They cannot apply for a UK ETA as British citizens
- They must travel on a valid British or Irish passport, or with a certificate of entitlement in their other passport
- If they try to travel on their Canadian or USA passport without UK ETA or without their British/Irish documentation, they face a real denied boarding risk
